Location Safety & Permission Disclosure

Effective Date: June 26, 2026
Last Updated: June 26, 2026

At Weefou, location helps users discover relevant people, plans, communities, and activities nearby. This disclosure explains why Weefou requests location permission, how location may be used, how you can control it, and how to stay safe while using location-based features.

By allowing location permission, you agree that Weefou may use your location information as described in this disclosure and our Privacy Policy.

1. Why Weefou Requests Location Permission

Weefou is an intent-based social discovery app where users connect with nearby people for friendship, dating, events, travel, networking, communities, activities, and real-life plans.

We may request location permission to:

  • Show nearby users
  • Improve intent-based discovery
  • Suggest relevant plans and activities
  • Show nearby communities or events
  • Improve match relevance based on distance
  • Enable city-based or area-based discovery
  • Support Travel Mode or similar location-based features
  • Improve user safety, fraud prevention, and abuse review where required
  • Help users connect with people in their selected location range

2. Types of Location Data We May Use

Depending on your device settings and permission choice, Weefou may use:

  • Approximate location
  • Precise location
  • City-level location
  • Area-level location
  • GPS-based location
  • Network-based location
  • Location selected manually by the user
  • Travel Mode location, if enabled
  • Last known location, where supported by device settings

Weefou may not need exact location for every feature. Where possible, we may use approximate or limited location to improve privacy.

3. How Weefou Uses Location

Weefou may use location to:

  • Show users near your selected distance range
  • Help other users discover your profile based on approximate distance
  • Improve search and discovery results
  • Suggest nearby activities, events, or communities
  • Reduce irrelevant matches from far locations
  • Support location-based safety checks
  • Detect suspicious or abusive platform activity
  • Improve app performance and user experience

We do not use your location to guarantee matches, meetings, events, or real-life plans.

4. How Your Location May Appear to Other Users

Weefou may show limited location-related information to other users, such as:

  • Approximate distance
  • City or general area
  • Nearby status
  • Travel Mode city or selected location
  • Discovery range-based visibility

Weefou does not recommend showing your exact live location to other users.

Your exact GPS coordinates should not be publicly visible to other users unless a specific feature clearly says so and you choose to share it.

5. Precise Location Disclosure

Precise location may be used only when needed for location-based features such as nearby discovery, distance-based matching, local plans, or Travel Mode.

If you do not want to share precise location, you may:

  • Select approximate location, if your device supports it
  • Disable precise location from device settings
  • Use manual city/location selection, if available
  • Disable location permission entirely

Some features may not work properly without location access.

6. Background Location Disclosure

Weefou may request background location only if a feature clearly requires it and only with your permission.

Background location means the app may access location when the app is not actively open on your screen.

Weefou may use background location only for clearly disclosed user-facing features, such as:

  • Keeping nearby discovery updated
  • Supporting Travel Mode or location-based availability
  • Improving safety and fraud prevention where required
  • Updating location-based matching when enabled by the user

If background location is not required, Weefou should not request it.

You can disable background location anytime from your device settings.

7. Location Is Not Used For

Weefou does not use your location to:

  • Sell your precise location data
  • Publicly show your exact live location
  • Track you outside the app without permission
  • Share your exact GPS coordinates with other users
  • Allow unknown users to see your home address
  • Allow unknown users to see your workplace address
  • Guarantee the safety or identity of other users

8. User Control Over Location

You can control location access at any time.

You may choose options such as:

  • Allow only while using the app
  • Allow all the time, if available and required
  • Ask every time

You may choose options such as:
